The Church Planters
Meet Arthur & Sarah Cooper, Our Church Planters
I began the pastoral ministry journey in 1992 with Christian United Prayer Band while serving in leadership roles with Tubman Memorial UMC. In 1996, I was licensed by Tubman Memorial UMC licensed as “Lay-Speaker.” Both organizations are in Paynesville, Liberia. In 1997, I served as “Youth Pastor” at the Camp Buduburam UMC in Accra, Ghana.
Sarah and I began our ministry journey together in 2002 as volunteers at United Christian fellowship Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the United Christian Fellowship church, I received ordination to the “Gospel Ministry” in 2003. Together, we served in several leadership roles—Youth Pastor, Men ministry President, Usher Ministry President, amongst others.

As the Lord stimulated us, Sarah and I walked through the corridor of open doors by serving our community, and our native land, Liberia. Later in 2005, we planted United Christian Assembly, Inc. in Paynesville, Liberia. In 2007, we worked along with Rev. Jonathan N. Doe, Sr. and others to plant the African UMC in Minnesota. In June of 2010, our ministry journey took us to Brookdale Christian Center in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. There, we worshipped and served as volunteers Sunday School Teacher and Women’s Ministry leader. Later, I received ministerial credential with the Minnesota District Council of the Assemblies of God in April of 2011.
Since the beginning of our ministry, Sarah and I have always walked through any door that has opened to us. This has allowed us to serve and gain experience in many fields from volunteer persons, to lead pastoral role as well as opportunity to plant and oversee churches. In 2012, a door opened that will take us on a new and unexpected ministry journey—one that we would never have imagined. Today, we stand balanced and ready are walking through this new door of opportunity by collaborating with the Minnesota District of the Assemblies of God.

We have planted a church in the North Twin Cities areas of Minnesota District Council with a strong emphasis on transforming lives. We started this new phase of our ministry journey with great anticipation of what God will do through us in these last days. Sarah and I have been married for many years and together, we have four grown children and four grand kids.
