the "pilgrim" name history

We desired a name that would drive the mission, core values, and objectives of the ministry. In addition, we wanted a name that would also serve as an incentive to people—first in their hearts and in their daily life. Since my conversion to Christianity, and the teaching of John 14, I have come to believe that there is a better place for those who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior. A place he called, “My father’s house,” a place and the eternal hope of the saved. As clearly as it may be, the desire of Jesus is that all the saved (Christians) be with him in this house someday forever.

With this understanding, we the saved, should not settle for this present earth but strive to fulfill the desire of Jesus by being in his father’s house with him someday. Thus, we should consider this present world as a place to prepare us for our future and eternal home. We are hoping that one day; after life here on earth is done, we will, like Elijah and Paul fulfill the desire of Jesus.

We are told that Elijah went home to be with the Lord after his days were done here on earth. 2 Kings 2:1-11. The apostle Paul also went to be with the Lord after his days were done. 2 Timothy 4:6-8. Our hope is that “Pilgrim” is not just a name but also a body of believers journeying to Christ.
