THE CHURCH PLANTERS
Meet Arthur & Sarah Cooper, Our Church Planters

I began the pastoral ministry journey in 1992 with Christian United Prayer Band while serving in leadership roles at with Tubman Memorial UMC. In 1996, I was licensed by Tubman Memorial UMC as “Lay-Speaker.” Both churches are in Paynesville, Liberia. In 1997, I served as “Youth Pastor” at Camp Buduburam UMC in Accra, Ghana.

Sarah and I began our ministry journey together in 2002 as volunteers at United Christian fellowship Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the United Christian Fellowship church, I received ordination to the “Gospel Ministry” in 2003. Together, we served in several...more
MISSION AND OUTREACH
As you may be aware, Pilgrim believes that people’s business is God’s business, therefore God’s business should be the mission of the church. So, Pilgrim is about mission.
Someone wrote, “Mission is the meaning of the church.” The church can exist only insofar as it is in mission, insofar as it participates in the act of Christ, (bringing people into God’s Kingdom) which is mission. The church becomes the mission, the living outreach of God into the world. Without this mission, there would be no church. Pilgrim agrees, so, we are a mission church...more
THE HISTORY OF PILGRIM
Fellow Pilgrims and Friends,
We are in an unprecedented time in the history of the world yea the Christian church. The hardship—death, sickness, job loses, reduced work hours, unable to meet up with the bills, shortages of food and other supplies et cetera caused by the outbreak of this Novel Coronavirus. We know directly or indirectly each one is affected.

So, in times like these we believe everyone needs the Word of God more than ever before, along with some help, especially so, from his or her church. Something that could bring hope alive and fortify our faith as we strive through these dreadful times. Scripture says, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, …” Matthew 25:35, NIV.

It is in view of the above that your church, Pilgrim Christian Center (AOG) has decided to reach out to you with this little food package to help in the process of weathering this pandemic. Please accept it with our love and be encouraged. Remember we are in it and together we will overcome.
Stay safe and remember Jesus loves you.

Hardship is common to mankind regardless of age, sex, creed, or color. Sarah and I are no exception. So, for seven years we faced all sort of problems. Death of love ones, severe illness, loss of jobs, and so forth. Were our problems the result of miss opportunities, poor planning or God way of preparing us for what lies ahead. We couldn’t say. Since we did not know the reasons behind our problems, we decided to take it to the Lord in prayer.

So, we fasted and prayed occasionally trusting God for solutions. But our lives seemed to be on a roller coaster. Whenever there appear to be a breakthrough then we fall back into deeper problems that brought us setbacks. However, we did quit but took solace...more

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF PILGRIM
It is with great expectancy that we share with you our primary purpose of planting Pilgrim Christian Center. Sarah and I have entered a period of our lives where the need for making disciples for the kingdom of God is overwhelming. However, it’s saddening to note, that in this period, the main thing of the gospel, which I called “people business” is no longer the main thing, but secondary thing in some segments of the Christian community. People business was the main peak...more
MISSION 2020/2021
In two separates conversations with his disciples recorded in Matthew 28:19 and Acts 1:8, Jesus accentuated the ways to recruit people for the kingdom of God. To us who are his extended disciples in today’s universal Christian church, this recruitment process is known as mission. Implying, mission is the meaning of the church. “The church can exist only insofar as it is in mission, insofar as it participates in the act of Christ,”1 Evangelism and outreach are part of this equation, but so is a decent place to call church home. People who come to Christ for a new start shouldn’t feel uncomfortable...more

FAMILY SOCIAL NIGHT
Through a vision out of Pilgrim's 21-day Fast and Prayer for the church and the rest of the world covered between August 7 thru August 17, 2018, Pastor Cooper declared this day, and it's been adopted for the church to adapt as monthly Family Night tradition. This tradition is intended to bring together the members of the church together with friends and family for a social, re-acquaintance or family night for no more than two hours. The event gathering takes place on the last Friday in each month of the year.

Featured in in the Family Social Night are in-door games such as Ludu, Checkers, Chess, scrabble, etc. We invite church friends and friends of friends to come and join our social night and feel that you are right at home away from your own church home.

With Pastor Cooper as head and overseer of the social function, its operational activities will be steered by Sister Marjuen Austina Tucker. All church members are encouraged to stand up and be a full participant in this church social group.

MORE ABOUT PILGRIM
SOME PILGRIM SERVICES
WORSHIP: Our worship program is designed to exalt, glorify, honor, praise and please God. We will fulfill our worship by prostrating our souls before Him in humble heart and contrite submission.
POWER TUESDAY: Every Tuesday in the week starting at 7:00pm for 30 minutes only has been set aside for a vigorous prayer session on the phone line. All church members are encouraged to call the prayer line and join in on the prayer session at this time. Please find prayer line phone number in the church bulletin.
PILGRIM'S MISSION: Pilgrim Christian Center, as part of the Christian Community of Minnesota, is committed not only to transforming lives but worshiping God and serving humanity. 1 Chronicles 16:23-31; Luke 4:18-19; John 21:15-17
OUTREACH & SERVICE: Providing what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of a person is one of the keys in fulfilling the gospel, and a way of giving back to the community. Therefore, Pilgrim will endeavor to give attention to single parents and their kids; and will also conduct “drop of basket” program to our service men and women in our community.
TRANSFORMATION: Transformation can be a challenge. Usually it is hard to drop old habits and difficult to learn new ones. Thus, people are complacent with who they are. But is it where you are meant to be spiritually and physically or is it your life purpose? Evaluating where you are now, compared to where you want to be is the place to begin the transformation. And this is where Pilgrim comes in to serve as a GPS, to help you navigate the process.
MINISTRY'S DESCRIPTION Pilgrim’s ministry is centered on holistic values in its target community and will provide a spirit-filled leadership, and coaching team through volunteer ministry staff. Pilgrim will endeavor to make connect with the needs of every individual, especially those of African descent who are in our target community.
VISION 2019
"Getting Involved, Getting Engaged for a Better Pilgrim"
